Yoga Therapy
The
next two definitions will help define what yoga therapy is to give you a
better understanding.
Yoga therapy is the adaptation of yoga practices for people with health challenges. Yoga therapists prescribe specific regimens of postures, breathing exercises, and relaxation techniques to suit individual needs. Medical research shows that Yoga therapy is among the most effective complementary therapies for several common aliments. The challenges may be an illness, a temporary condition like pregnancy or childbirth, or a chronic condition associated with old age or infirmity.
IAYT Definition
Yoga therapy is the process of empowering individuals to progress toward improved health and well-being through the application of the philosophy and practice of Yoga.
Yoga Therapy is a new modality that is becoming popular quite
quickly. By combining yoga poses, breath
work, meditation and relaxation, the body is able to
release any stored up stress that failed despite conventional medical
treatment.
If you are under medical care, once you
have been released by any medical personnel, you may begin your Yoga Therapy
treatment. If you are not under medical
care, you may begin when you are ready.
Restorative
Yoga is a therapeutic session performed one on one with Christina. An intake will be performed to see where your
needs are and then a 1.5 hour session will be completed. We will use a series of props and poses
designed for your body type. This is a
private session designed specifically for you.
You may also be given certain exercises that may be performed at
home. Knee pain, back pain, inguinal
hernia, hip pain, frozen/shoulder pain, scoliosis, constipation, menstrual problems, asthma, insomnia are just
a few issues that can be addressed.
